Supervisor Overnight Program

Supervises staff working overnight shift in Family Home Program.

Schedule: Overnight Shift - 9pm-7am; some weekends and holidays coverage.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Oversees Family Home Program operations.

  • Oversees overnight staff to ensure nightly tasks are being completed.

  • Oversees documentation of observations of overnight youth activity; records, updates and enters significant information and incidents in required format.

  • Trains overnight staff on assigned responsibilities.

  • Assures all overnight protocols are being followed.

  • Oversees proper implementation of Model while providing consultation, supervision, and feedback. Provides staff and program training.

  • Ensures effective use of Boys Town Model including individualized motivation system, self-government, and problem-solving techniques.

  • Observes Overnight Family Home Program workers and gives feedback; provides consultation.

  • Prepares Staff Development Plans.

  • Conducts shift transition meetings, service planning meetings and other meetings as scheduled.

  • Ensures safety in accordance with policies and procedures including youth safety, outings, and reporting guidelines.

  • Ensures compliance with state, local, grant, contract, or licensure requirements.

  • Interacts with external agencies and parents regarding an individual youth's progress.

  • Collaborates with Family Home Administration and other departments regarding safety trends and issues

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care.

  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality and to build and sustain successful, professional relationships.

  • Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.

  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with children, families, staff, and support agencies.

  • Demonstrated independent decision-making skills and competencies to work in crisis situations when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Necessary temperament to work with children and families experiencing crisis.

  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to make assessments and use sound judgment.

  • Proficient in use of Word, Excel, and e-mail.

  • Knowledge of consultation, training, evaluation, or administration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field OR High School diploma with 3 years of experience working in Human Services required.

  • Minimum 21 years of age required.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience including working with children and families required.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.

  • On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required.

  • Available to work flexible hours required including varying shifts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Boys Town Model preferred.

  • Previous supervisors experience preferred.
