School Nurse-12 month

Treats students for medical issues and implements programs for safe medication procedures, helps protect and promote student health, and coordinates routine health and wellness assessments and activities for students and school administration as assigned.

HIRING BONUS: $2000

Responsible for safe medication administration and professional health/wellness treatment and assessments for students and school staff.

  • Conducts health screens and medication verification, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of medication administration procedures.

  • Secures, maintains, and updates the medical records of each student.

  • Acts as a liaison on health-related information between family teachers and athletic staff.

  • Implements health plans for students with specific health needs

  • Provides emergency aid to students, school staff, or visitors.

  • Assists teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education. Responsible for early detection of physical problems and disease prevention. Ensures regulatory compliance and standards are followed.

  • Serves as a resource and provides education/intervention for students and staff to prevent and reduce risks of communicable diseases; educates staff on health-related questions.

  • Participates in meetings as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand and utilize medical terminology. Ability to translate medical data into understandable conclusions and recommendations

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care.

  • Ability to provide care and education according to the population served.

  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational and computer skills. Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality. • Ability to quickly make decisions in sensitive and sometimes critical areas and to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity. •

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required

  • Ability to obtain a School Nurse Endorsement from the Department of Education within 90 days of hire required

  • Current valid RN License required

  • CPR (BLS) certification required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • School nurse experience preferred.
