Nurse Practitioner/APRN) - Pediatric ICU
Job ID REQ-2023-2504 Omaha, NebraskaSchedule: Full Time: 3 / 3x12 shifts/week/every third weekend and holiday rotation and every 6th weekend (nights)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Performs medical services that are delegated by and provided under the supervision of a Pediatric Intensivist. The services form a component of the supervising physician's scope of practice.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
Complies with all Nebraska statutes and regulations related to APRNs.
Assists with research and quality improvement projects, as needed.
Assists with training of staff, residents and students, as needed.
Participates in multidisciplinary rounds.
Works collaboratively with nursing staff, respiratory therapy staff, other departments to promote quality and safe patient care.
Provides input to policy/procedure development.
Participates in performance improvements activities.
Promotes professionalism within the PICU team, other departments, families and patients.
Promotes a culture of safety and a non-punitive environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrate competence in providing direct patient care and patient and family education.
Communicate with patients, families and staff, and collaborate with other members of the health care team to enhance care.
Make assessments and problem solve.
Familiar with initiating and managing mechanical ventilation.
Multitask under stressful conditions.
Keep complete accurate records of all events and results of patient encounters in a timely manner.
Be a strong patient advocate.
Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science degree and graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; Masters or Doctorate Degree in Nursing.
Licensed as an APRN-Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska upon start required.
Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required.
Prior working knowledge of using a personal computer and electronic medical records required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of two years of experience in a pediatric critical care setting preferred.
