EIPA Scientific Administrator
Job ID REQ-2024-4518 Omaha, NebraskaMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Ensures the integrity of the educational interpreter evaluation tools by documenting validity and reliability of the written and performance tests, conducting fidelity checks on rating teams, and developing procedures and processes for further test development.
Collaborates with the EIPA Supervisor to help inform and ensure evidence-based practices for current and future generations of the written and performance-based assessments.
Provides advisement in database design and modification
Provides advisement regarding content and speakers for EIPA national workshops
Contributes to the educational interpreter community by developing materials and resources and disseminating these on the EIPA website, workshops, and other relevant venues.
Develops and maintains a program of scholarly research that includes publishing in peer reviewed journals.
Trains, supervises, and evaluates research assistants and technicians.
Collaborates with other members of the research faculty on research problems of mutual interest.
Contributes to the national research effort in the field of interest through reviews of manuscripts, helping to organize national meetings, and service on committees of national organizations.
Acts as the representative and spokesperson for EIPA, answer questions related to EIPA that involve policy, theory, rationale and psychometric reliability and validity.
Serves on and leads appropriate BTNRH committees, assists in annual budget preparation, and performs other administrative functions as requested by the Director of the Research Center and the Vice President of Research.
Supports educational and clinical programming by providing families who wish to learn ASL or other sign language systems (ex: Pidgin Signed English) by offering courses and workshops.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Apply comprehensive knowledge of the relevant literature and skill and experience with research procedures related to sign language, educational interpreting, language science, and Deaf culture, including knowledge of relevant research procedures.
Apply knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and computer applications appropriate for the field of interest.
Excellent communication skills in sign and written modalities.
Work well with other professional personnel and with support staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience equivalent to that of a faculty member at a research university, including a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in education, linguistics, speech-language-hearing science, or a related discipline.
Leadership skills as demonstrated by history of directing/chairing field-related programs or projects.
Research skills as demonstrated by a significant record of publication in refereed journals and presentations at national meetings.
Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
