EEG Technologist (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

In a career as an EEG Technologist, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will perform EEG (routine & long-term) studies on patients. Assist with obtaining relevant medical history, activating/recording based on clinical symptoms, and formulates technical descriptive impressions. Perform general office and reception duties as deemed necessary.

Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours a week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, On-Call Rotation

Shifts Available: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Location: West Hospital

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Performs and documents EEG neurodiagnostic studies in accordance with national standards and Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) policies and procedures.
  • Can independently and accurately merge, clip, and prune long term EEG studies.
  • Utilizes the hospital information system/network to complete duties and tasks. Consistently completes paperwork, maintains files and processes information necessary for optimal service and physician interpretation.
  • Provides patient care and education accordingly to the patient population served.
  • Demonstrates work practices consistent with BTNRH and department specific safety, security and infection control policies.
  • Maintains a high level of profession expertise and excellence in the field as demonstrated by membership in professional societies, continuing education, or other actions resulting in update of current knowledge.
  • Uses professional judgement to problem-solve and knows when to involve leadership for assistance or support.
  • Demonstrates initiative and motivation to seek out ways to effectively complete assignments and responsibilities.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Takes ownership of the area to resolve issues or concerns.
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served ​

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists required.
  • One year of experience as a registered EEG technologist required.
  • One year of Long Term Monitoring experience required.
  • BLS/ CPR certification required.
  • Completion of LTM 100: Introduction to Long Term Monitoring for EMU Personnel required.
  • Completion of a minimum of 50 Long Term Monitoring cases required.
