Director IHFS Program

Provides in-home intervention to children and their families utilizing a skilled based, solution focused model to help families adopt positive solutions to problems through the teaching of skills and behavioral techniques accessing community resources and support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Oversees and coordinates operations of a large IHFS program.

  • Provides and reviews necessary communication and documentation for families, agencies, courts, and interested parties to discuss family progress in meeting service plan goals.

  • Coordinates, guides, approves, and monitors family assessment and service plans; provides for regular review and updating of service plans.

  • Supervises, administers, monitors, and evaluates established intervention procedures for the program and develops new approaches for intervention as needed.

  • Provides direction for all case closure decisions.

  • Ensures appropriate level of direct contact with families per program requirements, and remains available to staff and families 24/7, for crisis intervention as needed.

  • Follows reporting procedures established for IHFS and promotes safety through ongoing training and consultation.

  • May be trained to become a certified Common Sense Parenting Instructor and as a certified instructor may be asked to conduct Common Sense Parenting (CSP) Courses at designated locations as assigned.

Assumes supervisory and administrative responsibility for an IHFS program.

  • Promotes a culture of professionalism through role modeling professional boundaries, and respect.

  • Screens and hires direct program staff, and assumes responsibility for training staff. Provides and documents regular supervision and accompanies IHFS staff in field as needed.

  • Administers financial planning, allocation, and disbursement of program budgets.

  • Monitors performance of assigned personnel and reviews performance with individuals as per departmental guidelines; develops and monitors career path trajectories with particular emphasis on educational and experiential requirements necessary to assume the next level of program responsibility.

  • Coordinates referral process and ensures program capacity is maintained at appropriate levels; works with referral sources and consumer groups to ensure appropriate referrals are made to the program.

  • Solicits feedback from consumers of the program activities including agency personnel and family members; develops and installs effective data collection systems, provides appropriate data, supervises data gathering by others and analyzes data from a variety of sources.

  • Establishes systems to predict and prevent potential problems and develops intervention strategies.

Oversees the fiduciary and compliance responsibility for an IHFS program.

  • Implements and ensures compliance with all contractual, regulatory, program, and accrediting body standards.

  • Manages program occupancy, staff turnover, and other program variables that have a financial impact.

  • Reviews individual staff data to ensure that program guidelines are being followed, and used the data to improve efficiencies and outcomes.

  • Monitors program budget to maintain revenues and expenses within budgetary guidelines.

  • Provides necessary documents and maintains certifications and licensures as required.

  • Manages and monitors staff changes that may affect job status or program compliance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lead a team of associates and to supervise family intervention services, be knowledgeable of, and comply with, statutes and policies which affect target population.

  • Solid understanding of the philosophy and function of public assistance and social services systems. Knowledge of the functions and services of the community organizations and related human services.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care and the ability to learn, apply, and explain complex regulations and policies governing child welfare processes and services.

  • Demonstrates decision making skills and competencies to work in crisis situations and the temperament to work with children and families experiencing crisis.

  • Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with youth, staff, and support agencies.

  • Knowledge of recognized interventions such as risk assessment and crisis intervention in order to address identified service needs.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization and with external business contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong knowledge of Boys Town model and fidelity of care.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Human Services or a related field required.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with children and families including management and supervisory experience required.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.

  • Ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed) to complete travel requirements of the job required.

  • Meet auto insurance requirements established by Boys Town policy and/or State and Local laws required.

  • On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with children and families in community-based programs or Boys Town Programs preferred.
