Audiology Assistant (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

In a career as an Audiology Assistant, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will provide assistance with various audiological testing services for patients with known or suspected hearing disorders.

Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours a week, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Thursday, and 8:00 AM-12:00 PM on Wednesday.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Greets and escorts patients and families, confirming identity in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
  • Assists with pediatric audiological testing using a variety of test techniques (visual reinforcement audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, computer assisted play audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions). Under supervision, may fit/size swimplugs.
  • Enters data into electronic databases for audiological and hearing aid services (e.g., hearing aid warranty and invoice information and/or the loaner hearing aids).
  • Monitors clinical supplies, PPE and forms. Tracks, stocks and orders these for efficient clinical operation (e.g., order forms, batteries, earmold materials, test forms, insert earphones, probe tubes, hearing-aid lab supplies, etc.). This includes data entry in allocation system and financial paperwork.
  • Sanitizes clinical instruments, toys and other supplies in compliance with infection control guidelines. Insures that the audiology clinic area is prepared for patients.
  • Performs a wide range of duties in support of the Hearing Technology Center. For example, checking in hearing aids that are new or returned from repair, mailing outgoing hearing aids, maintaining hearing aid records and notifying patients of hearing aid warranty expirations. May assist with maintenance of the hearing aid loaner inventory.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for triaging incoming appointment calls for Audiology, ABR, and Vestibular services. Registers new patients into the medical record system and makes appointments. Assists with troubleshooting issues that arise with scheduling to improve system efficiency and accuracy of appointments.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for requesting and tracking required referrals for vestibular evaluations and rehabilitation.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree or the equivalent required.

  • Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel) required.
